1) The tournament
will be conducted as a "live" bankroll tournament. Cost of the
event is
$500, with the player pre-paying a $100 entry fee, and then
purchasing a $400 live voucher
for his or her contest play on the day of the tournament. Each
entrant is allowed to
purchase a maximum of 2 entries per day. If the tournament
contestant chooses to
purchase 2 entries to the contest, then they will pre-pay 2
separate entry fees of $100 each
and purchase 2 different vouchers on tournament day of $400
each. The vouchers will be
labeled 1 and 2 for results purposes. This tournament will pay
prize money as well as
serve as a qualifier to the 2008 Horse Player World Series
event to be held at the Orleans
Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada in Jan 2008.
2) The format of the tournament will consist of the contestant
placing (10) live $20 win and
$20 place wagers. The contestant will be allowed to place a
$20 win wager and a $20 place
wager on 2 different horses in the same race, but must wager
an accumulative $40 on
exactly 10 races. The contestant will place live wagers on 5
designated mandatory races at
Yavapai Downs and will have the choice of making his or her
other 5 wagers from a pool of
races that day at Saratoga or Del Mar. Tournament management
will designate which
races will be available for the contestant to choose from
according to time frame.
Although contestants will keep any amounts accumulated on
their “live” vouchers, the
maximum pay-off for contest purposes is a cap of 20x1 to win
and 10x1 to place.
3) The tournament will be held as 2 separate tournaments on 2
separate days, 8/25/2007
and 8/26/2007. Contestants are eligible to win multiple cash
prizes each day, but are only
eligible to win one qualifying spot over the entire weekend.
Each player is allowed to
purchase up to a maximum of 2 contest entries per day, and
cost of each entry would be a
total of $500 ($400 live voucher + $100 entry fee). The entry
fee of $100 will be split with
$50 going into the Yavapai Downs Prize Pool (to be returned
100%) and $50 will be
designated for tournament expenses. Yavapai Downs will be
providing a special
tournament room and extra live tellers to accommodate the
tournament players for their
tournament voucher play and non-tournament play. Yavapai Downs
will also provide a
deli-style buffet for the players each day. In addition,
Yavapai Downs will supply an
additional $1000 in seed money to the 2008 event, and more
sponsorship is being sought.
Tournament contestants can play each day and win multiple cash
prizes, but a person can
win a qualifier spot only once, so therefore, if the same
entrant won qualifiers in both days
or on one day, that qualifying spot would revert to the next
non-qualifier with the highest
accumulated bankroll on either day, and the multi-qualifier
would win the cash prize for
that placing position ONLY. Contestants will use the $400
voucher for their (10) $20 win
and place wagers only, and will keep any monies remaining on
the voucher at the end of
the tournament. All contestants must place their tournament
wagers with a live teller using
their voucher. Any failure to play the 5 mandatory races and 5
selected races out of the
remaining contest pool of races will result in the player’s
disqualification from the
tournament, and they will forfeit their entry fees, but still
be able to cash in and keep the
remaining proceeds on their voucher.
4) There will also be a special prize pool awarded for “early
bird” entry. Although the $100
entry fee for each entry is non-refundable, contestants whose
entries are postmarked no
later than 7/31/07 will be eligible for a special “early bird”
prize pool. Those contestants
will also be eligible to receive a discounted motel room rate
at The Antelope Hills Inn, 6000
Willow Creek Rd, Prescott Arizona (928)-778-6000. Entries
should be mailed (attention
Greg “Boomer” Wry) or hand delivered to Yavapai Downs, 10501
Highway 89A, Prescott
Valley, AZ 86314. Tournament management also reserves the
right to cancel the
tournament without prior notice on either day if at least 50
entries are not received.
Tournament entries will be accepted up to 10 minutes prior to
the 1st contest race of the
day, but those contestants will not be eligible for “early
bird” prizes. To be eligible for the
early bird prize pool for both days, the contestant must
prepay for both entry days by the
time period stated above.
5) Prize Pool (based on 200 entries) 1 in 10 cash $10,000

2007

the amount of entries
received. For example 50 entries= ¼ of 200, cash prize $250.
However, the 4
complimentary hotel stays will be given away regardless of
number of entries as long as
the minimum NUMBER OF 50 entries is achieved.
7) Yavapai Downs reserves the right to settle any disputes,
and all decisions of
tournament management are final and binding. In the event of a
late scratch at the gate,
tournament director will have the authority to assign an
additional race for wagering if
ample time isn’t available for the contestant to change their
ticket.
